How/when will I get paid?

Let's dive into a few common payment questions...

Which currencies are supported on Setlr?

Setlr payments are handled in USD.

But... don't worry if your home currency is different - you can still work on Setlr! You'll earn USD in your Setlr wallet but when you transfer funds out of your wallet and into your bank account, your bank will do a currency conversion.

We do have plans to support GBP and EUR very soon, and if we do so, we'll send you a notification through the app to let you know.

How will I be paid?

With Setlr, you'll be paid out by bank transfer.

We've chosen this method because it easily allows you to transfer your earnings into a bank account of your choice, without expensive payment fees associated with third party payment providers such as PayPal. It also means we can support a truly global translator community.

When will I be paid?

When you have confirmed earnings in your Setlr wallet, you can make a "Payout" into your nominated bank account at any time. Processing time varies from bank to bank so we recommend you complete your first payout to see exactly how long it takes to appear in your bank account.

Are there any payout fees?

No. We've chosen the bank transfer method to avoid third party payment processing fees, so what you earn is what you keep. You may incur currency conversion fees if your bank has to exchange USD into your local currency, but this varies from bank to bank. We recommend you complete your first payout to discover exactly what your bank charges for this.

Do I need to invoice clients?

No. Setlr is different to agency translation. You could often find yourself working on many different client jobs when you use Setlr, and it simply wouldn't be practical to invoice them all. We provide a record of work done, which should be sufficient to meet your accounting needs. If you have any questions or specific concerns about this, please drop us a line.
